The Town of West Point has an excellent public school system. In 2012 the Town of West Point Schools were awarded the “Virginia Board of Education’s Excellence Award”. We also were the “#1 School Division in the State of Virginia” for the years of 2004 and 2005. West Point Schools have been awarded the “Distinguished Title I School District” 6 years in a row, and also received the “What Parents Want” award for the past 12 years.
The school system consists of one elementary school (305 students), one middle school (186 students) and one high school (248 students). In 2011, 95% of our high school graduates went on to college.
We may be small but we are GREAT!
The Town of West Point has its own YMCA and Tri-Rivers Youth Association which provides activities for residents of all ages. The Town has its own facilities with five baseball fields, soccer and football fields, four tennis courts, a walking/running track, and bike and walking trails, Town Park children’s play area and a newly added kayak launch. In the area are the Glass Island Boat Ramp operated by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, West Point Country Club and the King William County Recreation Park (41 acres).
